Candy Cane Diffuser Mix

Happy Holidays everyone! I am always trying to get my apartment to smell like Christmas during December. While YoungLiving does actually offer a Christmas Spirit mix(which smells delish), I personally prefer a sweeter or mintier scent as opposed to cinnamon like their mix. I went to bath and body to peruse their holiday candles and wall flowers, but the prices were crazy, they aren't super healthy, and the holiday lines were so not worth it! However, that evening someone else in the oily community posted the above recipe on Facebook. I gave it a try and OMG! It smells so good! Seriously just like a candy cane! Essential Oil Makeup Remover

Hey guys! So recently I was thinking of all the things I have changed in my life since I started using EOs. One thing that I am habitually horrible at is removing my makeup at night. It's is because either the remover I choose is so hopped up with chemicals that it makes my eyes all itchy and red or it doesn't have the bad chemicals and so I have to basically rub my eyes off my face to get the makeup all off. Well why not use oils for this as well? To find an efficient recipe, I reached out to my online YL family via fb. The following recipe is what I received and let me tell you it works wonders. It doesn't irritate my skin because it is all natural and it works in just a few quick wipes!

You will need the following
10 drops of Carrot Seed Oil
10 drops of Frankincense Oil
10 drops of Lavender Oil
Carrier Oil (I recommend Grapeseed )

Now the person who gave me this recipe put all of her ingredients in a small glass jar and stuffed a bunch of little make wipes in the jar to soak and then just used them as needed. I decided to instead just use one of my old empty oil bottles and just put a few drops on a cotton ball when using. This way your oils last longer. So I took my empty bottle and filled it about 3/4 of the way with Grapeseed oil. Next I added my 10 drops of the Carrot Seed, Frankincense, and Lavender oils. Maybe 4 to 5 on a cotton ball to get the job done as oil does spread out across your skin.

When using this recipe, You DEFINITELY want to make sure you are using a PURE therapeutic grade oil! I prefer Young Living because I did feel like they had the most cost efficient options for the best oils! DO NOT use oil brands like the ones found at stores like Bed, Bath, and Beyond. Many of these lower cost oils that are advertised for aromatherapy are not healthy for you because there other synthetics mixed into the oil to make it cheaper. They are not PURE and can cause your skin to have a reaction. Plus anything that's not 100% natural is not 100% healthy!

Young Living oils are great, but since they are pure, they can be costly (especially the Frankincense). However, if you become a member, You get a Kit which includes a diffuser and 11 oils (including Frankincense). If you were to buy a diffuser and these 11 oils it would be way more expensive than the kit, so it really is a fantastic deal. Plus, when you become a member, there are no strings attached and no monthly purchase minimum unless you decide to become an essential rewards member which is totally optional. Lady Cramps

So I have come across a new recipe to help with the dreaded monthly "Lady Cramps"! What I like to do when mixing several oils together is to use a glass roller ball like THESE from Amazon. You want to always make sure to store your oils in glass as they can leech toxins out of plastic and that would kind of defeat their entire purpose of being natural and healthy.

For this recipe you will need...

1. Geranium Essential Oil
2. Cypress Essential Oil
3. Panaway Young Living Blend
4. Carrier Oil (Coconut, Grapeseed, or Jojoba oil) - I used Grapeseed

You will fill up your roller bottle about halfway with your chosen carrier oil. Next you will put several drops of the Geranium, Cypress, and Panaway into the bottle. Now for me I used 10 drops of each oil


When diluting your essential oils into a carrier oil, it's important to know your own skin. I put a little more in because I don't have sensitive skin. In fact, I have sometimes not even diluted them and have been just fine. If you do have sensitive skin, or aren't quite use to using essential oils, then I would only use about 5-7 drops of the above. Though I like to sometimes use oils without diluting, I still highly recommend it because it makes your oils last so much longer!

So once you have your mixture in your roller bottle, you are ready for use! I always like to label exactly what is in each roller bottle so I don't forget and can refill when needed. When you began to have cramps from your cycle, simply roll the bottle around on your lower abdomen and rub it in. Apply as needed. I don't usually get horrific cramps, so it really did make me feel better with just moderate cramping. The Panaway gives you a cooling sensation while the Geranium smells fantastic like fresh cut flowers!

Combat High Stress

Today I wanted to talk about a great oil blend for relieving stress! Recently I have been car shopping and let me tell you it is the most stressful experience I have ever had! Luckily though I have my oils! This is a blend that is fantastic for calming your nerves, relieving stress, and providing relaxation.

Simply put 2 drops of Lavender, 5 drops of Peace and Calming, and 5 drops of Joy into your diffuser and enjoy. It gives off a very light floral scent. Both Peace and Calming and Joy are blends on their own that come pre-blended from YL and are two of my absolute favorites! This stress blend could also be used in a roller bottle directly onto your skin, but you would want to be sure to dilute the oils with a carrier oil. I prefer coconut and grapeseed oils, but there are many to choose from. You would simply fill your roller bottle halfway with your carrier oil and then add you lavender, joy, and peace and calming! Lavender Love

Lavender is the first essential oil I ever purchased and used. It is such a versatile oil that has a million uses.

I love to put it on my neck, face, and chest at night because it helps me sleep better. It has great relaxing properties that literally put me for the night. It also does the same for my puppies. They LOVE to wrestle and road run through the house in the mornings which is not always conducive to my plans. If I pop some lavender in the diffuser they settle down and nap together like the sweet little angels they can (sometimes) be lol.

Speaking of the pups, I have found that by putting a drop of lavender every now and then on their colors really deters fleas from making a home in their fur.

I have also used lavender to soothe bug bites. During the summer it never fails that I attract all of the mosquitoes in the area. They itch like crazy and I am the WORST when it comes to trying to ignore the itching, but when I rubbed lavender oil on the bites the itch and redness disappeared. I also feel like the bump itself decreased in size quicker than normal.

Vitality Line

Just a quick word! YL has come out with their new vitality line! It contains some of my favorite oils that are able to be used as dietary supplements. I like to use different citrus oils in my water because its not only good for you but also gives your water a great flavor. The vitality line comes in the 5ml bottle so its a great option if you are on a budget because they are lower priced than the regular 15ml bottles!

Starter Kits

Hello! I just kind of realized while looking over my blog that I mention starter kits becoming a member A LOT and have never given a super good explanation. So, today I am going to give you a run down of exactly what you get and why its so awesome!

When you sign up to become a YL member you get whole sale prices on EVERYTHING! The company also has special promotions each month for members only where you have the opportunity to receive free products. You can enroll and choose a Starter Kit that you feel best fits your lifestyle and what you want to get out of your oils. Next they will offer you the option to join Essential Rewards.

Option 1: You can opt out of the Essential Rewards Program. I recommend opting out of the program if you are only becoming a member to benefit yourself and aren't interested in working the business side of it. By opting out you are not required to make purchases on a timeline and you have no set minimum for purchases. You can literally order what you want whenever you want and enjoy the benefit of wholesale prices.

Option 2: You can enroll in the Essential Rewards Program. I recommend doing this if you are interested in trying to make YL a business or if you know you will be making frequent orders. The reason I say this is you are required to make a monthly purchase worth at least 50 points. Points are something you collect over time when you make a purchase (Example: Lavender is $24 so you get 24 points). Your points add up over time and you use your points towards free oils.

You can end or begin the Essential Rewards Program when ever you want so if you want to hold off on it during your enrollment, you always have the option later. That is actually what I did. I am always on a budget so I just decided to become a member with joining ER. After a few weeks though of learning about the products and company I decided to enroll and its worked out well for me!

I was so excited the day my kit came in the mail (picture proof above lol). The kit is the first and ONLY required purchase when you become a member, but its an amazing thing. Basically the kit sets you up with everything you need to start integrating essential oils into your lifestyle. It includes a diffuser of your choice, 10 essential oils, a special bonus oil, 10 glass sample bottles, and some samples of other products as well. Its a great kit because it has everything you need at a WAY cheaper price than if you were to purchase everything you get separately.

Free Facial!

Happy Wednesday everyone! Today I want to RAVE about a new product I tried today! So I've said before that the YL team I am a part of has a fb group so we can keep in touch and trade essential oil experiences with each other. The girl who runs the group does frequent giveaways for all of us and this month I won three samples of YL's facial care line. Frankincense

Hey everyone! I hope everyone had an amazing Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years. I know I have been a little late in posting anything, but I went back home for the holidays and I have been so busy! Now that its the new year though, I am back and ready to type! So today when I woke up and looked in the mirror, I pretty much rushed to my computer to type this post!

I usually try to be a pretty healthy person, but with the holidays and all the lovely fatty foods that come with them that's pretty much been totally ruined the last few months. So since I have been eating so many bad things, I have been suffering from the dreaded break outs on my face and nose. Well yesterday I woke up to find the WORST pimple ever right smack in the middle of my nose. It was right at the top of the bridge in between my eyes and was so red. I had to go all day through work with this huge red spot. It was horrible! So last night before bed I dabbed the wretched red bump with a drop of Frankincense. This morning I went and peaked into the mirror and lo and behold it was almost entirely gone! The size had drastically cleared to the point where it was basically flat and the color had gone from a bright red to a light barely there pink! I am certain that after one more night of doing this, it will be totally gone!

Now personally I don't LOVE the scent of Frankincense, but I am, not saying it's a bad smell as my friend loves it. I will say I like it more when its diffused instead of applied directly or when its mixed with another EO or carrier oil. To me though the health benefits outweigh the scent. Frankincense is FANTASTIC and has so many different uses. Its great for massage, meditation, and healthy skin. I have also heard of many other great ways to use it from the EO community! For instance, I just made a combination using Frankincense along with some other oils to promote immune support and to help avoid sickness during the flu season! I use it every day and, so far, no sickness.

Now for another testimony lol. I also used Frankincense on my little brother when I went home for the holidays. He is 15 and was suffering from teen acne. He had quite a few blemishes across his forehead and nose. As his sibling, I felt it my duty to force him to apply Frankincense before bed each night to his problem areas. Within the week, his face had totally cleared up!

Now I will say, since Frankincense is so versatile for different health benefits and a little harder to extract than other oils, it is a little more on the expensive side. It runs around $70 to $80 for a bottle. However, if you are on a budget like me it is a lot more economical to purchase Frankincense by purchasing the Premium Starter Kit! They start at $160 and not only do you get Frankincense, but you also get 10 other super helpful oils and a diffuser. They last a really long time, you get a lot more bang for your buck, and you have the benefit of receiving wholesale prices when you reorder anything.
